Subaru Forester (2012-2015) steering wheel control interface (Denso Navigation)

This steering wheel control interface is designed for Subaru Forester 2012-2015 vehicles fitted with the factory Denso navigation system. It allows the installation of an aftermarket car stereo or head unit while retaining the original steering wheel audio control buttons, helping preserve key factory functions during a stereo upgrade.

The cable adapts the original Subaru-style connectors in the vehicle to standard aftermarket ISO connectors, which removes the need for a separate ISO radio replacement adapter cable. This helps make installation cleaner and more straightforward for both professional installers and experienced DIY users fitting a new stereo.

The interface retains the original volume, track skip, source and phone buttons on the steering wheel so they continue to work with the new aftermarket radio. It also provides speed pulse output for compatible navigation units, handbrake output, and reverse signal output for aftermarket reverse camera installations, making it a practical solution for more advanced multimedia upgrades.

Installation Notes

Purple/ White wire (Reverse Gear Output) - This wire will provide a signal to the vehicle's head unit when the vehicle is in reverse. This will trigger the video screen to show the video from the backup camera on the screen. This is not always present on the vehicles original wiring, if this is the case please connect to the reverse feed in the car.

Pink wire (Speed Pulse Output) - Some stereos / navigation systems have a speed pulse wire and this tells the new stereo how fast or slow the vehicle is travelling.

Green wire (Handbrake/ Parking Brake Output) - If your new stereo has a touchscreen or video monitor, this wire acts as a switch to turn on the video monitor when the parking brake is engaged.
